The artfulness of art

I have always been jealous of the artistic types. As a writer, people often lump me into the group of "artists."

"Not so," I say. To me, art is creating something beautiful and magical, just from your imagination. Writing is creativity, yes, but not artistic.

Mozart was an artist. Degas, artist. Micheangelo, artist. Leonardo Da Vinci, a bit if a screwball but an artist none the less. If you have never read any of his theories on nudity, check it out. Highly entertaining.

Photography also qualifies as art.

When my sweet-young thing of a sister told me she met the man of her dreams, I'll admit I had bias. While a lover of art, not so sure about artists as brother-in-law material.

As it turns out, I love the work her fiance does. He's a photographer, painter and he makes some fabulous collages.

But the best part of all -- if he becomes famous, then I (little old Michele) will know someone famous.

I drool at the possiblity of lording it over my friends...

You are artistic and here's why... You are smart, beautiful, a mother, a wife and a friend to many. You hold it all together and you make it all work.
That is artful.
