Jamming

Back in the glory days of Napster and Kazaa, I discovered a love of mixed CDs. I had received a few mixed tapes when I was in high school (wow, just dated myself, didn't I!) but I had never made one myself.

When I started dipping into online music sharing, I found an ernest desire to mix and match my musical selections. After a few trys, I forged some great mixes which I immediately gave to my friends, who would surely encourage me and worship the musical ground I walked on.

I also cleverly named these master pieces. "U2 Can Be a Rock Star." "Straight Outta Compton." "Let Lenny Rule." "Garbage In, Music Out." And my favorite, "Love Songs and Lullabies," which is really a collection of head-banging metal tunes.

I gave my recent collection of Muse tunes, entitled "My Musical Muse" to one of my fellow massage students. She was thrilled.

In reciprocation, she made her own collection of personal favorites which she named, "Boner Jams." Damn, good title.

Then she added the caveat, "Tunes so good, it will give you a boner..."

Fuck. Trumped by a rookie.

Bet I can guess who you received those 'mix tapes' from.....

Your secret is safe, I'll never tell anyone.....

Care-bear, it is not a secret. Jerry gave me three of them! Man, those were some good tapes too. A lot of Bad Company on them though.

The book/movie High Fidelity has a whole section on the art of putting together the perfect mix tape.

But this reminded me of another movie quote:

"Hey, Lucius, just wanted to share a little piece of personal information with you. I got a chubby right now because this is one of the most awesome experiences of my life because I'm getting to drive a racecar! I can't believe it! Oh my god! Oh my god!"
