It's here again and I can't believe it. Didn't we just celebrate last year? Where has the time gone? Today the ball of fire celebrated his 4th birthday. As is our tradition, both the hubby and I took the day from work to do something "fun." I use quotes around "fun" because August is stiffling hot and we always end up at the water park. What else can you do that will occupy most of the day -- outdoors -- and thrill a toddler?
I noticed today that the older I get, the more crotchety I get. I've always wondered how these little old ladies become so mean and bitter. Now I know. They paid $70 to take a kid to a water park. And that doesn't include the additional $100 you shell out for food and drink because Lord forbid you try and take your own snacks. $5 to rent a tube to ride the lazy river, $8 to rent a locker so we didn't have to drag all our shit every where and bitch, bitch, bitch...
I know, I'm a joy to be around. I try.
As always, it is fun to watch his face light up when he sees the big pirate ship in the kiddie area, or when he buys that giant sucker which he will NEVER actually eat.
I just can't believe my ball of fire is already 4! Happy Birthday, little man!

Happy Birthday Big Boy!! Ahhhh...I remember the preschool days. I now have a teenager who's room is newly decorated to look like a dorm room and a nearly 8 yr old that acts older and older each day (he recently got glasses which makes him look older).
It sucks getting older, but it sure is fun watching them grow up. Actually, it's kind of nice not having to get a babysitter when we want to go out together (not that it happens often).
Just wait, you will sit back one day and realize that spending the time and money with him will be the greatest joy of your life.
Happy Birthday lil' guy! WE are so happy for you, the big number four. Geez I am not sure if we have seen him in the last year. Just think next year we will have our own little one, no longer the bun in the oven. Miss you Shell!
