I was pleasantly surprised to hear the latest cut off of the White Stripes new album today, "You Don't Know What Love Is."
I mentioned before that I was disappointed with their first track, "Icky Thump." I loved their last album, "Get Behind Me Satan," so I expected great things.
Jack White never fails to amaze me. His work with The Raconteurs is fantastic. Their song, "Level" is a perennial favorite in the car.
Someday, when I interview Jack and Meg (who never talks to reporters, choosing instead to let Jack answer for her) I want to know what CDs are in their collection. Their music has so many licks reminiscent of Led Zeppelin and The Doors.
If only I could get that job at the Rolling Stone.
Did you notice the drawing of Rita Hayworth on the back of Jack's guitar in the "You Don't Know What Love Is" video? He has that thing with redheads, and you've just got to love that.
You're not helpless, or hopeless and I hate to sound cold
But you don't know what love is, you just do what you're told
