Incised

I have always longed for those few marks that make me stand out from the rest: a piercing here, a tattoo there. Now I can add a few new scars to the mix.

I'll never have that delicate, soft, smooth expanse of stomach again. That taut slope from belly to ribs. Now it's a little more refined, a little more me, a little more history that left a mark.

In exchange, there are no more tumors, a happy liver and the threat of the big "C" was abolished for good. All in all, it's worth a few little scars to be home again.
