Red state

I traveled from one end of the state to the other this weekend to see my sister and nephew who were visiting from Utah.

As usual, I am amazed at the diversity (rednecks) that pepper this beautiful land. My own brother was spotted with a nice, brand new handgun tucked in the back of his jeans -- thankfully unloaded because how would you explain THAT injury to a doctor.

On the final stretch coming home today, I saw a hand-written sign for a new "bar" in a tiny little town about an hour outside of Kansas City. It was lovingly named "The Rat Hole," and boasted beer (who would have guessed?) and a live band on Friday nights. I begged the hubby to pull over but he insisted that the ball of fire was much, much too young to see live bands and we had beer at home. Damn!

Our travels behind us, I can safely predict that the state will pull Republican again this year, and the gays will need to stay in the designated areas for a while longer. Sorry guys, but the boys at the Rat Hole were pretty adamant about it!!

Is that the same couch that your mom had when we were in high school? Dad still has ours too. Maybe thats a sign that the world still isn't ready for a change yet...

Of course it's still the same couch. However, she has had a seat and cushions made for it. So now you can at least sit on it without killing your back.
