Bonuses at the new job

There is some measure of validation that you receive at a corporate job that you don't get as a stay-at-home mom.

It didn't happen often, but every now and then someone would stop by my desk and say, "You did a really great job on that memo."

Actually, there was a dotted-line boss -- Doug -- at the yet-to-be-named large tax prepartion company that was really good at giving compliments. I regret that I didn't tell him that often enough. Other managers should learn from him.

But I digress.

There are the obvious perks of this job -- chalk drawings, lots of hugs and kisses, cuddle time and being called the "best friend."

And then there are the surprise perks. For example, today during my respite (aka, nap time) I was watching my previously recorded Big Love.

I heard a knock at the door, and stopping only long enough to pause my show, I raced upstairs. Nothing wakes a sleeping bambino quicker than a doorbell.

When what to my wondering eyes appeared? One really, really hot guy from TruGreen Chemlawn. Bonus!

Bald head, big pumped arms, smart little goatee.... Life is good.

It almost made up for the fact that the ball-of-fire pooped and peed in his undies during nap. Almost...
