Sometimes, do you ever wonder if your kid is a little .... hmmmm .... out there?
If my kid is out there, it is certainly inherited from my side of the family -- on my mom's side. Some of the things my Uncle Murray says, well, it does not warrent repeating -- ever.
The ball of fire has always been a little advanced verbally. He was counting at 1, singing whole songs by 18 months and basically spoke in complete sentences by age 2. I am not surprised by the things he says, asks or repeats. This makes it hard to remember that he is ONLY 3 and despite the fact that he talks like a 5 year-old, his throws the fits of a 3 year-old.
Lately he's been fascinated with the Jeff Corwin Experience on Animal Planet. This program is pretty good about not showing the darker side of nature, i.e. the lionesses pulling down the giant water buffallo by chewing his asshole. (Family joke but based on actual events!) But even this sanitary version has seeped into his wee brain.
For example, last night at dinner, he created a "boat" at the table by pulling all the chairs together. Both of us had to sit in the boat, feet up, because of the crocodile that was circling us trying to have our toes for dinner. What made this extra fascinating was the fact that he was wearing an undershirt, his Star Wars underwear and a pair of goggles with no lenses.
We finally finished our dinner, chased the crocodile away and made our escape to the bathroom for bathtub time. But before we left the dinning room, he looked at me with a solemn face and said, "Be brave, mommy. Be very brave."

Wonderful story. Thank you for that.
Oddly enough, I wore the exact same outfit when I was younger.
And by younger I mean last week.
