Interview with a phantom limb

I read this great interview with The Shin's frontman James Mercer on Nerve.com today. I was actually checking out a blog by Erin Bradley, who happened to write a piece for Writer's Digest about being a sex/dating columnist.

(This is just a small sample of how my life works: read article, check out Website, find interview. It's all basically bullshit but enjoyable.)

It's a fun interview and James talks about his influence for one of my favorite songs, "Australia," which I thought was hilarious:

That's from my memories of working in offices. I've had a hundred different jobs, and there is a special kind of sickness doing a job in an office. I was a bookkeeper and a secretary, and there is something so horribly boring and defeating about it... So it's partly me wondering, "Is this what humans are meant to be doing?" You're in this fucking cage and there's people you can see through the window and you see the gardener and you're so fucking jealous.

Raise your hand if you've ever been sitting in your cube, watching the guy manicure the hedges, and thinking, "Man, what I wouldn't give to work outside..."

P.S. My all-time favorite song by The Shins is "Sea Legs." The choice is yours to be loved ...
