Bragging rights

Writers are a worrisome lot. Validation is usually far and few between in this arena. Most often, what you hear is what is wrong with the article or copy you've written. Very rarely are you praised.

I've long worried that I wasn't that great of a writer but everyone was too afraid to tell me. Oh sure, my mom and the hubby are quick to disagree, but I always wondered.

This week, I received a request to include one of my articles in College Culture, Student Success, a college-level text for first-year writing students. It is being used as an example of exemplary writing.

Their words, not mine, although I felt my head grow about two sizes when I read that.

Aww shucks!

College Culture, Student Success? That's almost as good as getting in a real magazine like Men's Health I suppose. At least you're not a pussy.

I would never presume to be good enough for the likes of Men's Health. Sheesh! But if I ever need a lesson in being a pussy, I will call you immediately.

Absolutely. I'm a pussy expert.

I'll leave that to your wife to verify!
